Farney PTO Nomination Form 2025-2026

Parent involvement is critical for a successful school, so volunteer as a PTO officer or a committee chair for 2025 - 2026.  There are jobs that take no more than a couple hours a month, some that are seasonal, and a few that require a routine commitment.

Dedicated teachers, staff, and PARENTS help make Farney Elementary a great school!  Join us – it’s rewarding, it’s important, it’s even fun!

The PTO Executive Board is composed of elected officers, committee chairs, and school representatives.  It meets one evening per month to conduct PTO business. General meetings for the entire membership are scheduled twice per year. 

 

Current Open Officer with Descriptions 

Elected Officers (listed in order of importance to fill)

Treasurer: Maintain the PTO’s financial records, budget development, collect and disperse funds, and generate financial reports. (Effort: 4-5 hours per month, average)

 

Secretary/Parliamentarian: Record meeting minutes of all meetings of the Organization and the PTO Board and advise on points of parliamentary law, which may arise. (Effort: 3-4 hours per month, includes attending meeting and typing up minutes.)

 

VP of Primary Fundraising: Investigate options for major fundraisers to present to the Board for approval, Coordinate and oversee all special committees needed for major fundraising.(Effort: ongoing, year-round commitment)

 

VP of Volunteers: Act as a community liaison to build our volunteer base. Coordinate the recruitment, retention, and recognition of volunteers at Farney. Recruit and Maintain list of room parent volunteers for each classroom.  Communicate to room parents regarding PTO activities, PTO events, and school activities. Coordinate, organize and oversee two school-wide parties per year. (Effort: 2 to 3 hours per month; more hours during peak times in December and May)

 

Historian: Compile, design, produce, sell the annual Farney Yearbook, which is distributed at the end of the school year. (Effort: ongoing, year-round commitment)

 

VP of Membership: In charge of yearly membership drive. Prepare and maintain an online membership roster. Coordinate and/or assist with communication between the Organization, school, and membership. (Effort: 1-2 hours per month; more hours during peak times of late July and August at the start of school and during membership drive)

 

VP of Secondary Fundraising: Coordinate the selection, design, ordering, inventory and sales of school T-shirts and any related products. Oversee the Spirit Shop Committee Head. Arrange restaurant spirit nights and coordinate the PTO's annual Spring Family Fun Event. (Effort: Peak T-Shirt sales in August/September and monthly spirit shop. Spirit Nights - 1-2 hours each. Spring Family Fun Event will have a large committee involved and many volunteers.)

 

VP of Communications: Communicate information regarding PTO activities and achievements to the community by updating the PTO website, posting on social media and producing the PTO newsletter. (Effort: year-round, but minimal, 1-2 hours per month)
